School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs)
Sydney Catholic Schools is committed to providing flexible pathways for students to achieve their goals. A school-based apprenticeship/traineeship (SBAT) combines:
- paid work
- training in a nationally recognised qualification; and
- credit towards the HSC.
It allows students to commence an apprenticeship or complete a traineeship whilst at school. SBTs are available to all Year 10, 11 and 12 high school students; whereas SBAs are available to Year 11 and 12 students only. All SBATs must be processed through the school, an Education Officer VET and the Sydney Catholic Schools Regional Representative.
Students may undertake the learning component through Sydney Catholic Schools if their SBAT relates to a qualification Sydney Catholic Schools is delivering, or it may be undertaken through TAFE or another external Registered Training Organisation.
