WORK PLACEMENT
NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) requires students to complete a minimum of 70 hours of work placement. Work placement is a mandatory component of the course and must be completed before the student’s last HSC exam. Days worked as part of a School Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship satisfies this NESA requirement.

HSC EXAMINATION INFORMATION
Students who complete a 240-hour Board Developed Course may sit for the optional HSC exam. Units may be counted towards the calculation of the ATAR for university entrance. Students not wishing to achieve an ATAR need not sit the HSC examination.

ASSESSMENT
Courses are competency-based as the student’s performance is assessed against a prescribed industry standard. Assessment strategies may include:

  • Observation
  • Student demonstration
  • Questioning
  • Structured Activities
  • Tests

Students are given multiple opportunities to demonstrate competence across the range of competency standards covered by this course.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
If students have completed any training prior, students may be able to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Students must approach their VET Teacher or VET Coordinator for further information.

FEES
A course fee may be charged by schools to cover consumable materials, and other costs associated with delivering the course, such as the Whitecard administration fee, first aid, Accounting Pod, etc. Your college will provide further advice. Access to courses at Training Centres also incurs a fee. Fee information is available through the subject selection portal for each cohort.
