WORK PLACEMENT
Most VET courses include mandatory work placement requirements prescribed by NESA. For some courses, work placement is also required by the relevant national training product. Where work placement is mandatory, students must complete the required hours and activities to meet the applicable course and/or qualification requirements.
HSC EXAMINATION INFORMATION
Students who complete a 240-hour Industry Curriculum Framework Course may sit for the optional HSC exam. Units may be counted towards the calculation of the ATAR for university entrance. Students not wishing to achieve an ATAR need not sit the HSC examination.
ASSESSMENT
Courses are competency-based as the student’s performance is assessed against a prescribed industry standard. Assessment strategies may include:
- Observation
- Student demonstration
- Questioning
- Structured Activities
- Tests
Students are given multiple opportunities to demonstrate competence across the range of competency standards covered by this course.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
If students have completed any training prior, students may be able to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Students must approach their VET Teacher or VET Coordinator for further information.
FEES
A course fee may be charged by schools to cover consumable materials, and other costs associated with delivering the course, such as the White Card administration fee, first aid course, etc. Your school will provide further advice. Access to courses at Training Centres also incurs a fee. Fee information is available through the subject selection portal for each cohort.
